Privacy Policy for Macro Trainer
Effective Date: April 29, 2026
Nicholas Hirras (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Macro Trainer mobile application as a commercial service. This SERVICE is intended for use as is.
This page is used to inform website visitors and app users regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.
If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
Information Collection and Use
We do not collect any personally identifiable information. Data entered into the Service (such as food logs, macros, body weights, and user preferences) is stored locally on your device and, where configured, synchronized with your private cloud storage (e.g., iCloud or Google Drive). We maintain no access to this data.
Health Data Integration Macro Trainer offers the ability to sync with on-device health repositories, specifically Apple HealthKit for iOS users and Health Connect for Android users. This integration allows the app to read and write body weight and body fat metrics, and read step counts, walking/running distance, active & basal calories burned, flights climbed, and speed/pace to provide a seamless user experience.
- Permission-Based Access: The app only accesses health data after receiving explicit authorization from you. You may modify or revoke these permissions at any time via your device’s privacy settings.
- On-Device Processing: In accordance with our commitment to privacy, all health data utilized through these integrations is stored locally. Macro Trainer does not maintain external databases or servers for health data; consequently, your information is never uploaded, sold, or shared with third parties.
- Purpose of Use: Data accessed through HealthKit or Health Connect is used solely to provide nutritional tracking and progress visualization within the Macro Trainer interface.
Analytics and Crash Diagnostics (Opt-In Only) If you explicitly opt-in, the application uses Google’s Firebase suite to collect anonymous app usage stats and crash reports to help us maintain stability and improve usability:
- Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymous events like button clicks, page visits, and general app usage patterns to help us understand and improve user flows. We never collect meal items, names, weights, or locations.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Collects anonymous system diagnostics, stack traces, and device details when the app crashes unexpectedly to help us troubleshoot and debug. Both collection services are disabled by default and will not track any data until you explicitly choose to share this information. You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time via the Settings > Data tab in the application.
The app does use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you.
